All these people claiming “Samsung states there’s no recall” are talking to customer support in chat assuming they’re speaking with someone “in the know”. Perhaps they got sent back due to a recall? No idea, but fuckery none the less. which is crazy because you either have them or you don't. On that note, I have heard my local microcenter claiming they had 9 in stock, but then apparently now they don't. Maybe some brand will magically release an OLED out of nowhere which would be the superior purchase. Almost like the universe was telling me NOT to buy this monitor. I also tried to switch the payment from card to direct bank purchase but Amazon wouldn't let me, upon talking to them, they couldn't either, which to me sounds like absolute bullshit. And since it kept trying to charge it, I am pretty sure I was about to get it too, if it wasn't for my stupid fucking bank being cunts. So I simply canceled my order (which had 2 of the monitors in cart). I cancelled my amazon order, mainly because my order total was apparently over my banks card limit and they would not at all allow it through "without doing extensive paperwork" which to me sounds like bullshit fuckery. Either samsung or Microcenter will take it back. I'm going to be getting the 3090, so if that can't power this thing.

I truly wonder how much of this is just on the fact that sub 2000 series cards just can't power it. I have to drop the refresh rate on both to get it enabled. I'm still on a 1080ti, so because of the additional requirements on top of display port 1.4, I cannot run its native resolution at 240 hz. Well as of 8/21, Microcenter flat out says they don't even see the option in their system and MOST definitely can't sell it nor even add a service plan to it. My opinion is that they just didn't want to call it a recall because of bad PR but there are serious initial QC issues but no safety issues and they seem to have implemented fixes at factory level and are hence having a very low threshold for offering exchanges to initial buyers. That was my experience when my monitor had issues and multiple other posts with the same experience. Samsung has stated there is no official recall but they have acknowledged that there were qc issues in initial batch and are offering exchanges for anyone who is reaching out to them. I think Samsung owes us some transparency for spending $1700 USD + on their product so I'm calling out all my Ultrawidemasterrace peeps to spam their support at facebook and twitter till they provide some answers! This leaves a lot of us in the boat of having the monitor here or have it in en route with no idea what the defect is, what's the solution. The phone support does not have any other details as why the recall, what is the expected resolution, etc. So It seems it's almost certain that Samsung has recalled the Odyssey G9 - multiple reports from Micro-center claiming that and myself as well as others have confirmed this from Samsung US phone support line.
